Copa Star Hospital was developed around the idea of fusing technology with health care and sophistication. Launched in October 2016 in Figueiredo Magalhães str., Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, it has a unique medical assistance team combined with a professional operations staff. The Copa Star Hospital, an undertaking of Rede D’Or São Luiz, strikes a concept that combines sophistication, from the superb architectural designs, with opulence and technology endowed in the service of the patients’ comfort, health, and serenity.

In addition to highly trained professionals, Copa Star endeavors to provide an atmosphere with modified attention, care, warmth and a great functionality of the surroundings. The Smart Copa Star Hospitality system has an Ipad with a restricted function for patients to consult their doctors, have access to their examination reports, or request nurses’ attention while hospitalized. The innovative technology marks a significant difference in hospital care management.

Functional Framework

Also, it also provides self-sufficiency never seen in other private hospitals, because of the hi-tech equipment offering automatic functions of the facility. Among the new features are surgical centers with technological support equipment to perform examinations. The inpatient rooms include a modern automation system where patients independently control the air conditioning, the head slope of the bed, the patient’s bed lighting controls, and sliding curtains that enhance every area of the recovery environment, making it a cozy place to recuperate.

Copa star did not leave out functionality in the areas of safety and caution. Its architectural design provides an enclosed area for the efficient flow of stretchers and other equipment, which facilitates the movement of professionals and agility in procedures.

Patients’ well-being coincides with the presence of artworks. The decorative element proves that artistic expressions lessen anxiety in patients and contributes to positive emotional responses that promote health. This trend follows in most renowned hospitals in the world; Rede D’Or São Luiz commissioned the interior designs, giving pleasant and warm atmosphere to the Copa Star Hospital.

The hospital square foot area totals 21,000m² and seven floors of comfort and technology. The overall project development costs totaling over 400 million reais. It took three years to complete with the groundbreaking ceremony held in 2013 while the project was completed in 2016.

The Copa Star Hospital is a successful development that equals hospitality standards of a 5-star hotel. The patients’ rooms add up to 231. It currently holds over 500 employees, including 110 qualified medical professionals. The Intensive Care Center unit is equipped with large screens that transmit overall movement of the streets adjacent to the hospital. One of the screens displays, in real time, the Copacabana beach. Rede D’Or São Luiz has thoughts of expanding this concept to other cities such as Brasilia and São Paulo. The unit in Rio de Janeiro performs complex surgeries with specialties in cardiology and neurology among other treatments available at the facility.
